In Hopedale community freezer they have char, caplin, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk and cereal.
Postville community freezer has char.
In Nain they have seal meat in their freezer.
It is always good to hear stories from Elders, when they tell stories from them days.
Adam Lidd is an Elder from Nain.
He says he used to be on collector boat, to get fish from north, even from Ramah.
Lidd says there used to be a lot of in those days.

A Memorial University Masters Student has been conducting research in Nain and Postville for his project called “Food, fire, and ice”
Frederic Dwyer-Samuel is a Master’s Student in Biological Sciences at the University of Montreal.
He says this research is integrating local knowledge, plant response, and cryosphere dynamics to predict future food and fuel in Nunatsiavut.
This project is aimed and focused on Food, Fire and Ice, they investigates the relations between forest fires, plants and permafrost at the site of three recent fires near the communities of Nain (at Webb and Tikkoatokak Bays) and Postville (near Beaver River).
He adds they have been conducting interviews documenting Inuit knowledge on the subject as well as the impacts of forest fires on the communities themselves.
With climate change, much of the elements of northern ecosystems will see important changes.
An information session will be taking place in Nain this Wednesday at the Nunatsiavut Government Board room, starting at 7pm.
He adds that food hot beverages and a prize draw will be held during this information session.

Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement are welcome to attend an Open House to meet with the President and Ministers of the Nunatsiavut Executive Council.
Edna Asivak is the Executive Secretary, Nunatsiavut Secretariat for Nunatsiavut Government in Nain.
The public residents will get a chance to meet the President and the Ministers of Nunatsiavut Executive Council, and also get some updates.
The open house will take place in Nain, Nunatsiavut on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 7:00pm located at the Nunatsiavut Administration Buildings Main Boardroom.

The committee posted ADS for Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries from July 5 to the 19th that they we’re in need of help in designing a logo.
Shirley Jararuse is the Language Program Coordinator with Nunatsiavut Government in Nain.
On Friday July 19, 2019 was the deadline for submissions. They had a total of 20 entries from Nunatsiavut.
They are happy to announce the winner of the Logo Contest, and they have chosen Jessica Winters from Makkovik.
Jararuse adds a big thanks to everyone and they all did an amazing job, and it was a hard decision.
In the meantime they are planning to display the posters with a later date to be announced.
The community Food bank in Happy Valley Goose Bay are looking for donations of non perishable food items.
Patricia Maloney is the Community Outreach Worker with the Labrador Friendship Center in Happy Valley Goose Bay.
She says monetary donations are accepted, with donations over $20 you will receive a tax receipt upon request or when password indicates food bank but will require a return email or mailing address.
Monetary donations can be made in person to the Labrador Friendship Center or you can also do an email money transfer to the Finance Manager, bmcdonnell@lfchvgb.ca
The food bank are looking for any food items, such as: Grand Pre Milk, juice,
cereal, canned goods; canned fruit, canned soup, canned vegetables, canned meatballs & gravy, canned spaghetti, ravioli, crackers, Carnation milk, Kraft dinner, sugar and teabags.

There will be a 1st Annual Recreation Co-Ed Volley-Ball Tournament held in the community of Hopedale.
The Volley-Ball tournament will begin August 30th to the 31st, of 2019.
We spoke with the Recreation Facility Manager, Belinda Denniston.
She says there will be a fee of $50 per person, with first prize of $2000 and second prize of $1000.
It will be 3 males and 3 females, and 5 players minimum with 7 players maximum.
There is a minimum of 10 teams for the tournament to go ahead.
The deadline to apply for this Co-Ed Tournament will be on August 28, 2019.
There will be a Music Festival on the weekend of August 24 and 25, of 2019.
Binky Andersen is in the planning committee.
She says that the Recreation Department has stepped in to help with this event.
Andersen adds that Saali Keelan will be joining in the upcoming music festival as well as David Hart.

With limited spots to be filled, they are looking for 20 men to take part.
