Moose Licence Draw Coming Up (Audio)

There has been a Northerly expansion of Moose into Nunatsiavut communities over the last few years.

Jim Goudie, the Wildlife Officer for Nunatsiavut Government says that six moose licenses have been filled to date.

Two moose were harvested in Nain.

One for the Community freezer, and one for personal harvest.

There were two moose killed in the community of Hopedale as well.

In addition to that, there was one successful harvest for the community of Rigolet and one for Happy Valley-Goose Bay (HV-GB).

There are twenty-nine licenses that have yet to be filled.

Goudie says that the next draw for moose licenses will be on November 26th.

On average a moose can weigh anywhere from 400 pounds and up.
