Thanksgiving Day Sale And Auction In Makkovik

The Thanksgiving Day sale in Makkovik was a bit less successful than over the years past.

Joan Andersen is one of the Chapel Servants of the Moravian Church.

She says they raised $203.65 through an auction, and raised $284.40 from the harvest sale.

Andersen says the harvest sale was held at the school on Monday instead, due to the community hall being used as a Polling Station.

Icy roads by the school may have prevented some regulars from going to the sale.

Andersen says the donated items received were onions, lettuce and potatoes from a local gardener, and some ducks, homemade pickle, jam and baked goods.

She adds that Auction Organizer Carol Gear holds an auction every month.

Andersen says that is a great fund raiser, and Gear has raised $10,000 for the Makkovik Moravian church.
