TFPC General Manager Discusses Upcoming Fishery (Audio)

Summer is quickly approaching and with it comes the fishing season.

Plans for this summer’s fishery in Nunatsiavut were discussed during the Torngat Fish Producers Cooperative’s Annual general meeting in Rigolet this week.

Keith Watts is the TFPC’s General Manager.

He says the items on the agenda included the results of last summer’s fishing season and the plans for the upcoming season.

Watts says operations at the plants in Makkovik and Nain will be similar to last year.

Crab and turbot will be processed at the facility in Makkovik.

The Nain plant will process char.

The TFPC is planning to offer a price they hope will attract scallop harvesters to Nain as well.

Watts adds that a new executive of the cooperatives’ board was selected during this week’s AGM.
