The bridges put in place for snowmobilers to safely cross the track left by Vale’s shipping vessel have all been removed.
Sikumiut Environmental Management Limited holds the contract to assemble the bridges across the Umiak 1’s track.
Gus A. Dicker is one of Sikumiut’s partners.
He says the final crossing was removed from Tattuk Island last Friday.
Dicker says the ice conditions weren’t too bad that day.
But he does believe the condition of the ice quickly deteriorated with the warm weather on Saturday.
Dicker says all the accompanying signs and markers have also been removed.
