Provincial Government Holding Community Meetings on Fuel Tanks (Audio)

Representatives from the provincial government will be visiting Nunatsiavut communities this week to discuss a plan for oil tank repair and replacement.

The plan will detail how the government will assist Nunatsiavut residents in meeting provincial oil tank regulations.

The provincial government will assist in inspecting, replacing and registering homeowner’s fuel tanks.

Homeowners who need their fuel tanks replaced will have to make a $500 down payment.

That down payment is not expected for households with an income of $35, 000 or less.

The provincial government will hold a meeting in Rigolet on Wednesday morning.

They will be in Nain on Wednesday evening.

The plan will be discussed in Makkovik on Thursday morning.

The provincial government will meet with residents of Postville on Thursday afternoon.

Their last meeting will be with Hopedale residents on Thursday evening.

A tender for the pre-inspection of fuel tanks will likely be awarded in the near future.
