Two seats are available in Nain, Upper Lake Melville (ULM) and Canada, while one seat is available in all other Constituencies.

Smith Snacks, known for its sandwiches and snacks found at convenience stores and gas stations across Newfoundland and Labrador, is recalling 30 of its products due to possible Listeria contamination.

Among the 30 items being recalled are sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and baked good such as apple flips, banana bread and pound cake.

The recall was triggered by inspections by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

As the investigation continues, more recalls may be issued.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The Hope Walkers from Nain had their walk last week to Iggiak, south of Nain.

Kim Oliver is the Team Leader for the Youth Centre with the Nain Department of Health and Social Development.

She says it was successful, and they had four walkers that day.

Oliver says they walked about 25 kilometres, and it took about five hours of walking.

She says there was a First Nation’s lady there as well.

The OKâlaKatiget Society has a job opening for a Television Producer.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

– Identifying story ideas and conducting research
– Operating camera, lighting and audio equipment
– Planning and conducting interviews and sources
– Outlining and writing scripts for editing
– Transcribing
– Digitally editing film on avid software

There are cruise ships scheduled to visit Nain, Hopedale and Rigolet this summer.

The Culture, Recreation and Tourism Department of the Nunatsiavut Government is offering Port Readiness Workshops in those communities in late April.

Port Readiness training is designed to help the communities prepare for cruise ships visits.

Tracy Denniston has created a Facebook page “nainstrong online auction”.

The auction began April 15th, and will end on Thursday, April 19th, 2018 at 8:00 pm.

Money for auction items is to be paid by cash or EMT by Friday, April 20, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

Items can be picked up at her house on 2 Okpik Road after they have been paid for.

She can also shop for out of town items.

All monies raised will be split between the families of Bryson Mclean, Maiya Harris, and Joni Sillit.

This year’s RCMP volleyball tournament will be taking place at the Nanuk centre in Hopedale, NL on April 20th and 21st.

The registration deadline is today, April 16th at 4 pm.

Teams are to have at least 5 players, with a maximum of 7 players registered.

The registration fee is $20 per person.

The required age is 14 and up.

To date, there are eight female teams and five male teams registered.

The Moravian Church has an invitation for Camp Bible Study with fun activities with a guest from Alaska, Pastor Clifford Jimmie, leading the bible studies.

All Youth from the communities of Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik and Happy Valley- Goose Bay, ages 13-18, are invited.

This is just a notification to find out if there are any interested youth.

It will go ahead, depending upon how many youth are interested.

There are already some youth from Hopedale that would like to attend.

The camp is booked for August 9 to 12th, 2018.
