Update on 2 men banned from Nalcor

The 2 men who were aboard the Provincial Airlines flight 922 on yesterdays flight from Happy Valley Goose Bay to St. Johns are now banned from Nalcor.

According to the CBC Newfoundland and Labrador website, it states that the two men are now banned from their workplace with Nalcor Energy, for making racist remarks on that plane.

The two men are already banned from PAL Airlines, over comments made to Indigenous passengers on that flight.

Crown Corporation Nalcor has revoked access to Churchill Falls in Labrador to two men who made racist and disparaging comments toward Indigenous people on a recent flight to St. John’s.

The town of Churchill Falls is managed and operated by the Crown Corporation.

Two men banned from PAL flights after making racist remarks to aboriginal passengers

PAL Airlines confirms an incident on flight 922 on December 10th, 2019 involving two passengers making hurtful and derogatory remarks towards others onboard our aircraft.

PAL Airlines has taken immediate action to indefinitely ban the two passengers from any of our future flights.

PAL Airlines is deeply troubled by the nature of these remarks and saddened that their valued customers were exposed to this behaviour.

Comments such as these have no place in our society and will not be tolerated by our Company.

They commend our flight crew for addressing the offending passengers and appreciate the restraint shown by other customers onboard.

PAL Airlines is committed to promoting diversity and understanding across our organization.

They have a proud history of partnership with Indigenous groups in Labrador and will work closely with our partners and communities to ensure our flights remain a welcoming environment for all our customers.

Social media posts of airline passengers making racist comments and disrespecting women troubling, disturbing

Posts circulating on Facebook about the conduct of two male passengers aboard Provincial Airlines flight 922 from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to St. John’s Monday evening are troubling and disturbing, says Nunatsiavut President, Johannes Lampe.

“The posts reported the men made several racist remarks towards Inuit and that at least one showed lack of respect for a female flight attendant by making lewd jesters towards her.” notes President Lampe.

“To refer to Inuit as ‘Eskimos’ and suggesting some passengers were carrying their “Kamutik” aboard the flight is degrading, and treating women with such disregard is totally unacceptable.”

President Lampe commends Provincial Airlines for dealing with the matter swiftly by issuing an apology and banning the two men indefinitely from all flights.
