Postville And Hopedale Elections For Councillors

Voting started this morning for Inuit Community Government Councillors in the Nunatsiavut communities of Postville and Hopedale.

Brennan says that elections are being held at the Recreation Hall and the polling stations will close this evening at 8pm.

The following people have been nominated for election in the “A” Voters Roll.

Keith Decker, Cora Edmunds, Mary Edmunds, Violet Flowers, Greg Jacque, Harold Jacque, Ruth Jacque, Wilfred Lane, Sheila Priddle, Carmen Sheppard and Winston Sheppard.

There are six seats available and eleven have been nominated.

There are 142 eligible voters in Postville.

And in Hopedale ten have been nominated for the Hopedale Inuit Community Government with six seats available.

Polling stations are at the Hopedale Inuit Community Government.

The following have been nominated for election for the Hopedale Inuit Community Government council: Philip Abel, Andrew Boase, Sandra Boone, Ruth Flowers, Judy Dicker, Melvin Hurley, Sarah Jensen, Susan Nochasak, Martha Winters Abel, and Darlene Winters.

There are 408 eligible voters in Hopedale.
