The Polar Bear season opened on February 2nd, 2017.
Jim Goudie is the Wildlife Manager for the Nunatsiavut Government.
He says that there have been five polar bears harvested to date.
The quota is filled in Nain, with three polar bears harvested.
Sidney Maggo, Joe Atsatata, and Rueben Nochasak were the successful harvesters for Nain.
He says that there was one bear harvested in Hopedale, where Ross Flowers was the successful harvester.
Rex Voisey was also successful in harvesting a polar bear in Makkovik.
