Nutak Relocatees Returning Home (Audio)

Plans are well underway for an upcoming reunion of Nutak relocatees in their former community.

Some of the former residents will gather in the abandoned community in mid-August.

A number of events are planned for the reunion such as the unveiling of a plaque to honour the relocatees and the recital of an apology by the provincial government.

Residents of Nutak were forced to move from their home by the provincial government in the late 1950s.

An apology was issued to the relocatees by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador back in 2005.
