No Date Set For 12th Annual Inuktitut Speakoff

The date and location for this year’s Inuktitut Speakoff is still not set.

Christine Nochasak is the new Inuktitut Specialist for the Labrador East School District.

She says the Inuktitut Speakoff is still in the works.

She says she will be notifying our radio department when the time and place is set.

This special event was held in Nain on February 3rd last year.

7 students from the north coast communities took part.

Representing Nain JHMS were Chaim Andersen and her sister Mary Tama.
Northern Lights Academy had Makayla Palliser- Flowers and Harley Flowers.
Brenda Flowers of Hopedale represented Amos Comenius School.
And Paulette Rice and Charly May Dyson of Makkovik represented their community school, John Christian Erhardt.

Last year’s winners were as follows:

First place : Mary Tama Andersen of JHMS Nain, Second place –Charly May Dyson of John Christian Erhardt, Makkovik and third place went to Brenda Flowers of Amos Comenius, Hopedale.
