Nain Impaired Driver Collides With RCMP

A 26 year old Nain man has been charged with impaired driving following a collision with an RCMP vehicle.

According to an RCMP news release, on Sunday October 20th at approximately 2 am, RCMP in Nain observed a vehicle being driven in the community in a reckless and dangerous manner.

Complaints had also been received from the community about the same vehicle being driven dangerously, and that the driver may have been impaired.

RCMP conducted a traffic stop, but the driver of the suspect vehicle tried to flee from the police.

The suspect vehicle then collided with an RCMP vehicle during the pursuit.

The driver was arrested and held in custody overnight.

He was later released from custody and will appear in Provincial Court on January 15th, 2014.

He will be facing charges of impaired driving, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and flight from police.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
