Nain Bicycle Rodeo

The Nain Department of Health and Social Development (or DHSD) and the Nain RCMP detachment held their annual Bicycle Rodeo yesterday.

Shirley Jararuse is the Community Health Worker with DHSD.

She says Community Constable Harry Dicker, Don Dicker, Lisa Dicker, Raymond Obed and Ryan Brown organized this event.

The bike rodeo was a great success again this year, with over 150 people in attendance at the ball field.

Jararuse says the Nain DHSD donated two brand new bicycles for their ticket draw for one adult bike and one children’s bike.

Later they held a community BBQ with hot dogs and drinks for the public.

Jararuse says Constable Dicker did a bicycle safety presentation.

The winners of the bikes were Christian Obed, who won the adult bike, and Jocelyn Dicker, the children’s bike winner.

Jararuse adds there were cool accessories given out such as helmets, bicycle padlocks and bells, bike tire lights, and one set of training wheels.

And after the BBQ, children had their names engraved on their bikes.
