Nain and Makkovik Fish Plant Update

The Nain and Makkovik fish plants are getting ready for the summer.

The Nain fish plant opened up on July 3rd.

Lucy Ikkusek is the Quality Control Supervisor.

She says there are ten employees working, and they are cleaning up the plant.

Ikkusek says they will be looking for more employees later on.

In Makkovik, we spoke to Junior Andersen, the Production Manager for the Makkovik fish plant.

He says the employees are also cleaning up the plant as well.

Andersen says the plant will open up on July 9th to take fish in.

He says two crab boats went out on Tuesday, July 4th.

Andersen adds that they are still looking for people to work at the plant.

If anyone is interested, they can call the fish plant at (709) 923-2230.
