Muskrat Falls Occupation Continues (Audio-Clips)

Protestors continue to occupy the Muskrat Falls worksite, resulting in what they are calling a complete work stoppage.

Yesterday afternoon at about 2:30 pm, a group of approximately 60 protestors broke open a lock on the main gate and stormed into the worksite.

Kim Campbell-McLean is one of the Land Protectors that occupied the worksite.

OK Radio was on-scene today and spoke to her shortly after she came out of the worksite.

As a result of the protestors’ actions, RCMP set up a blockade at the junction of Trans Labrador Highway Routes 500 and 510.

They refused to let anyone pass through the blockade, including members of the media.

The blockade was lifted late last night around midnight.

RCMP are now guarding the main gate to the Muskrat Falls Site.

There have been attempts to storm the gate while buses leave the site, some of them successful.

An RCMP Tactical Team is now headed north on the Trans Labrador Highway to the Muskrat Falls site.

They are expected to arrive sometime around midnight tonight.

As a result of the potential looming RCMP action, some protestors are concerned about the land protectors inside.

One of them is Bart Jack, an Innu Elder from Sheshatshiu, who has someone very special to him on the inside.
