Man Arrested Following Snowmobile/Pedestrian Collision

Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP have arrested a 34 year old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL following a snowmobile/pedestrian collision shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday morning.

Police responded to the crash on Hamilton River Road after being notified that a man had been struck by a snowmobile as he walked along the roadway.

A 79 year old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay was transported to the hospital with undetermined injuries.

The driver of the snowmobile fled the scene and was arrested at a residence a short time later.

He is facing charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to remain at the scene of an accident, as well as a number of breaches of court orders.

He was scheduled to appear in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Provincial Court yesterday afternoon.
