Labradorians Lining Up for Cain’s Quest

Labradorians are lining up to take part in Cain’s Quest 2012.

Todd Kent is a Co-Chairperson with the snowmobile endurance race.

He says 29 teams have registered for the event so far.

Three others were in the process of registering when we spoke with Kent.

Included in the teams are three from Natuashish and one from each of the communities of Makkovik, Hopedale, Sheshatshiu and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The deadline for racers to register is January 31.

The route of Cain’s Quest will take the racers from Labrador City, east to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, along the north coast to Nain, northwest to Kuujjuaq and then back to Labrador City.

Kent says they’ll be looking for volunteers from the north coast to help with the race.

There are checkpoints in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Sheshatshiu, Makkovik, Hopedale, Natuashish and Nain.

The first racer to make it to Happy Valley-Goose Bay will win $3, 000 cash.

The first to make it to Nain will receive a prize of $5, 000.

Kent says he’s planning to travel to each of the communities that will serve as checkpoints between now and the big race.

He will be sorting out the logistics and gathering volunteers at that time.

Kent is encouraging everybody to volunteer to help make Cain’s Quest 2012 another huge success.
