A new Inuit Educational Centre was recently officially opened in Ottawa.
Mary Simon is the Chair of Inuit Tapiriit kanadami (ITk) National Committee on Inuit Education.
The new centre is titled “Amaujaq National Center for Inuit Education”.
It’s named after the late Jose Amaujaq Kusugak, a former President of ITk.
Simon says she will be travelling to Iqaluit to hold meetings next week.
She will also travel to other Inuit regions, including Nunatsiavut, at a later date.
