Innu Nation Deputy Chief Rises Concerns About HV-GB Health Care

Innu Nation Deputy Chief Simeon Tshakapesh is raising concerns about the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Tshakapesh says his elderly mother-in-law had to wait 11 hours in Emergency with a chronic lung illness, struggling to breathe.

He says doctors have admitted his mother-in-law and she has had a close call.

He says she was still in the Intensive Care Unit as of yesterday.

Tshakapesh is charging the health care system in Labrador with racism towards the Innu people.

He says his experience is that there is a “pro-white” bias.
