The 2013 Regional High School Drama Festival began last evening at the Lawrence O’Brien Arts Center in HVGB.

Kathleen Hicks is the Manager at the Lawrence O’Brien Art Center.

She says the drama festival began at 7pm.

Plays were presented by the Labrador School Board.

The first three performances were done by Cartwright- Henry Gordon Academy School and Lake Melville School in North West River.

She says on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm there will be a talent show and later they will present the awards.

This year the judicator is Darryl Dinn from Lab City.

According to Hicks, each play can be a maximum of 40 minutes long.

The winning school will go to the provincial festival in Corner Brook this year.

Students from Nain, Hopedale and Makkovik haven’t made it in yet due to bad weather.

Hicks says she hopes all the students get a chance to come and perform their plays.
