Within days of the arrival of Labrador District’s new drug sniffing canine, “Charlie”, a search warrant was executed on a residence in the community of Happy Valley Goose Bay on Thursday, December 10th, 2015 at approximately 9:30 pm.
The search was conducted by members of the Happy Valley Goose Bay Detachment, Labrador District Street Level Drug Unit and Labrador District Police Dog Services.
As a result of the search, a 36 year old man and a 23 year old woman were arrested at the residence.
A quantity of cocaine, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia was seized.
The man appeared in Happy Valley/Goose Bay Provincial Court on the afternoon of Dec. 11th, 2015.
He faces a number of charges, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The woman was released from custody and will be appearing in court at a later date.
Charges against the woman are pending.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
