Coastal Ice Conditions Not Safe (Audio)

The ice around the north coast communities is not safe for travel.

The new ice that formed earlier either broke up from the wind or got soft last week when unexpected mild weather occurred.

Jack Shiwak is the AngajukKâk of the Rigolet Inuit Community Government.

He says there is no ice in the community, but people are travelling inland to hunt.

It’s about the same in all of the other four communities.
