Food security Network of Newfoundland and Labrador Healthy living for all has a program with Rigolet and Hopedale called “watching gardens grow online.”
Carlene Palliser is a beginning gardener and the food Coordinator in Rigolet.
Fresh vegetables and fruit are in short supply in Rigolet and a backyard garden skill-sharing program was organized in the spring of 2015 as part of the Food First NL NiKigijavut Nunatsiavutinni (Our Food in Nunatsiavut) Project.
Six beginner gardeners are being mentored by five community members with gardening experience.
A community garden initiative in Hopedale is also happening this year.
