Fire Claims a House in Nain

The Nain Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Rod Pilgrim is the Fire Chief.

He says they responded to the blaze just before 2 a.m.

The house was completely engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived on the scene.

It was too late to save the home by the time they did arrive.

The owner of the house was not present when the fire broke out.

Pilgrim says they were fortunate to have good weather conditions while battling the blaze.

The firefighters did run into a few problems with freezing equipment.

Pilgrim says they have not determined what started the blaze.

But he would like to remind residents to use safe practices when using candles or woodstoves.
