Vale’s shipping vessel, the Umiak 1, will be featured during an episode of ‘Mighty Ships’ Wednesday evening.
The Umiak 1 holds the title of the most powerful, highest-rated ice-breaking bulk carrier in the world.
A Discovery Channel film crew boarded the vessel back in March.
They captured footage of one of the icebreaker’s runs from Quebec City into the Voisey’s Bay site and back again.
The show may also feature employees of Sikumiut Environmental Management as they constructed ice markers and a pontoon across the ships’ track.
The episode of ‘Mighty Ships’ will air at 7 p.m. AST on the Discovery Channel.
