Child and Youth Care Program on the go in Hopedale

A Child and Youth Care Program started in Hopedale on March 20th.

OK radio spoke with Michelle Kinney, the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development with the Nunatsiavut Government.

Kinney says it is a 2 year program.

Approximately 20 people are registered into the program.

The students have conference calls three times a week through distance education.

There will be some onsite sessions with the instructor and distance education courses.

The Child and Youth Program is funded through the Federal Government Aboriginal Health Human Resource.

The students finished their 1st module on March 30th, 2017.

Once finished the program, they will be able to qualify for jobs with children or youth.
