Individuals still traveling by snowmobile in the Nain area should be extra cautious due to ice opening up.
This is according to the Nain Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) team.
They say the normal cracks in the ice they see every year are opened already.
Some cracks on the ice are as much as 3 feet wide on the south-Taktok, Kikketavak, and Tabor Island.(Napattuligak)
There are also a lot of holes, and very bad looking ice on the south side of Kauk Island and over to the next island.
There are two very wide cracks at the end of Satosoak and at Niatak and the lower end of Palungatak which are too wide to cross, so you have to travel very close to the shore.
The Nain GSAR adds to be careful please.
