Air Labrador Saddled with New Landing Fee (Audio)

Air Labrador will be affected by a new landing fee with each flight they make.

Philip Earle is the CEO for Air Labrador.

He says when the Provincial Budget came out on Thursday, the NL Department of Transportation and Works called several minutes after the announcement.

They said that every time an Air Labrador plane touches down on a provincially-owned airstrip, a $40 fee would be imposed.

Earle says this is a huge change.

And the disappointing part is there was no consultation.

He says the company will now go into discussions on Friday to iron out how it’s going to handle the financial hit.

The change will take effect on September 1st.
