The Nain Brass Band will be releasing their debut album tonight in the Nain Moravian Church at 7 pm.
The album was recorded at Queen’s College at the St. John’s campus of Memorial University on Sunday, October 9, 2016 during the Inuit Studies Conference.
Mark Turner, PhD, Adjunct Professor at the School of Music at Memorial University of Newfoundland, has been working with the band since 2013.
Turner says, “While there are certainly recordings of earlier ensembles, this is the first time any brass band from the Coast has produced and released its own album. We are all excited to see people’s reaction to it in Nain and across Nunatsiavut.”
The band will be selling copies of the album for $20.00 each outside of the church after the show.
All are welcome to attend.
