Virtual Candle Light Service in Nain (Audio to be added later)

The Annual Candle Light Service will be held differently in Nain this year.

Where COVID-19 has impacted lives and in many ways, the Moravian Church Board in Labrador held a teleconference last month to decide how the service will be held.

Joan Dicker, choir member and Simon Kohlmeister, Community Chief Elder of Nain joined the teleconference.

After the teleconference, the Nain Church Group held a meeting and decided that the Candlelight Service this year be held virtually.

The service will be recorded and aired on OKâlaKatiget Radio at 4pm on Thursday, December 24th, and people will be able to follow the service from their home.

Also from 1-3:30pm, parents and guardians can pick up their children’s apple, candle and biscuit in a bag from the church; they will be bagged for everyone’s safety.

Each person will also be given a sheet of the Church Service schedule to follow at home.

Stay tuned to AtjiKangitut to hear Dicker and Kohlmeister give more details about the Candle Light Service for this year.
