Torngat Fisheries Update with Keith Watts (Audio)

The crab fishery is going quite well in Makkovik, while the char did slack off a bit for fisherpersons in Nain earlier this week.

The char fisherpersons had said that their water and the nets were very dirty at that time, and that caused their catch of char to go down.

Keith Watts is the General Manager of Torngat Fish Producers Cooperative.

He says the two plants in Nain and Makkovik are using their new equipment to process the fish landed.

Watts says the shrimp fishery is partnered with Mercers Seafood, and there was a substantial quota cut announced in area 6 where Torngat fishes.
