Schedule for Nain’s Indigenous Day

The schedule for National Indigenous Day for Nain has been set up for next week.

Anyone can go down to the Illusuak Cultural Centre to celebrate on June 22nd, 2022, from 3 to 8pm.

The day will start with the lighting of the Kullik, with NG President Johannes Lampe saying a prayer at 3pm.

From 3:15 to 4pm, there will be Inuit games, storytelling, with tea and panitsiak.

There will be a community supper at 5pm and there will be a choice of having a soup of partridge, beef, chicken or chili.

Music Events will start at 5:30pm, the Beardos will be perform along with the brass band, some throat singers also will an open mic.

People of all ages can participate in a prize draw for traditional dressed starting at 7:45pm.

Infants ages zero to 4 years could win a baby gift, children between the ages of five to seven years and children ages 8 to 12 years got a chance to win a bicycle, youth between the ages of 13 to 18 years have a chance to win a $250 gift card, and adults ages 19 years and older could win a drum of gas or oil.

There will also be tickets sold for door prizes of an Air Borealis Ticket and a $300 food voucher.

The day will end of with singing Labradorimiut at 8pm.
