Rigolet Buzzing with Excitement during Robert Munsch’s Visit

It was a weekend packed with excitement in Rigolet with the visit of children’s book author, Robert Munsch.

Marilyn Baikie, a member of the visit’s organizing committee, says the community’s children prepared for weeks for the arrival of Munsch.

Robert Munsch was in Rigolet to launch his new book ‘Give Me Back My Dad!’

The book focuses on Rigolet’s Roger Shiwak and his daughter, Cheryl, on an ice fishing trip.

The two were on hand to present Munsch with a gift from the community.

The author’s visit began on Friday morning with a visit to the school.

He spent the day visiting each class where he read some of his work and signed copies of his books for the children.

Baikie says a community celebration was held later that evening.

A feast, speeches from officials and performances from the children were all held to mark the occasion.

Munsch also took the time to read some of his stories for the community.

The children of the community gave their own rendition of Munsch’s work.

They performed plays based on the author’s books.

Munsch also took the time to venture down the community’s boardwalk.

Baikie says the community was buzzing with excitement the whole weekend.

Quote from article “The book focuses on Rigolet’s Roger Shiwak and his daughter, Cheryl, on an ice fishing trip.”

What should of been said, was “The book focuses on Rigolet’s Roger Shiwak and his daughter, Cheryl Allen, on an ice fishing trip.”

I was just told that this is her last name, because I was under the impression that her name was Cheryl Shiwak. Just a food for thought. Thanks all the same! Congrats Rigolet, Roger & Cheryl and everyone else.
