The Nunatsiavut Government will hold public meetings in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and North West River next week.
The meeting is to listen to concerns over the expiration of a nine-year provision that allowed Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement to participate in a spring migratory bird harvest in areas outside of the Labrador Inuit Settlement Area.
Beneficiaries were permitted to participate in a spring migratory bird harvest in areas as outlined in Schedule 12-E of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.
The nine-year sunset clause expired on December 1, 2014.
As a result, Beneficiaries must now abide by Laws of General Application.
The meetings will take place at Clyde’s Room, upstairs in the EJ Broomfield Memorial Arena on Tuesday, June 9, and at the North West River Community Centre on Wednesday, June 10.
Both meetings will start at 7 p.m.
Nunatsiavut President Sarah Leo and Lands and Natural Resources Minister Darryl Shiwak will attend both meetings to listen to concerns and to answer questions.
