The Postville Inuit Community Government received $15,000.00 to help people work in order to earn enough hours to qualify for EI Benefits.
Diane Gear is the AngajuKKak for the Postville Inuit Community Government.
She says that about 7-8 people will gain employment through the program.
She adds that they are hoping that the funds will allow them to take care of most of the people on their community enhancement list.
However, she says that some people won’t qualify until after Christmas.
People working under the program will be making crafts, and some will work at the new fire break.
Individuals under the program will work until they receive enough hours to qualify for EI, or at least until the end of March, 2013.
Diane Gear says that she is happy that they are able to help people qualify for their Employment Insurance.
