No Nominations for NG President to Date

No nominations have been received to date for the upcoming Nunatsiavut Government Presidential Election.

A call for nominations was made by the First Minster on Monday.

Jack Shiwak, the Chief Electoral Officer, says there is certain criterion a beneficiary must meet in order to be nominated.

A nominee must be a beneficiary of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement who is at least 25-years-old.

The nominee must be able to understand and speak Inuttitut.

He or she must be of sound mind and not be imprisoned, on parole, probation or any other form of judicial supervision.

The nominee cannot owe money to either the Nunatsiavut Government or any of the Inuit Community Governments.

Those making a nomination must do so in writing and have it signed by three beneficiaries who are eligible to vote in the election.

Thos wishing to make a nomination have until March 30 to do so.
