Nain Man Arrested For Armed Robbery

Yesterday, September 30th the Nain RCMP were called to a Convenience Store on Middle path Road in Nain.

We spoke with Sergeant Johnathon Kenny with the Nain RCMP.

He says a 33 year old male had entered the store between 4-4:30 armed with a knife and demanding cigarettes.

The male then fled the scene with a small quantity of cigarettes.

Kenny says the RCMP members attended the scene and spoke with witnesses

who identified a male suspect from the community.

The RCMP members located the male suspect at his residence where he surrendered without incident.

The male is being held in custody and will be appearing in Happy Valley Goose Bay Provincial Court today, October 1st, 2014.

He is charged with robbery, uttering threats, possession of a weapon, and Breaching Court Orders.

No one was injured during the incident.
