Nain Care is a charity organization that has been in operation now for over 25 years.
It helps people with travel expenses for immediate families when a death in the family occurs.
Nain Care also helps families who lose their homes due to house fires.
Last week on Monday April 20, the Nain Care committee members and 2 members from the Voisey’s Bay Quirky Quilters came to Nain to present a cheque to Nain Care.
Sophie Ford, the Aboriginal Affairs Supervisor with Vale, and General Manager Peter Langlois were in Nain to present the cheque.
The Quirky Quilters is a group of employees at the Voisey’s Bay mine site who get together on a regular basis to do various sewing projects and activities.
Last year Vale agreed to match what the Quirky Quilters made for Nain CARE and donated $7500.
This year they handed out a cheque of $8135 for Nain Care.
Employees at Vale purchase a lot of local crafts, and tickets are sold on certain items.
Nain Care is a volunteer charity group who have had the same committee members for years.
