The Nunatsiavut Government is planning to build a new certified airport for the community of Nain.
The Nunatsiavut Government will host an information session on the project today October 4, 2022, at the Nunatsiavut Government administration building from 6:30-8pm.
The new airport will replace the existing infrastructure that is currently under stress from the impacts of climate change.
Studies have determined that the existing runway is unsafe and cannot be expanded or upgraded.
This project is presently at the stage of feasibility studies, which should be completed by June 2024.
Twelve feasibility studies will be conducted, of which three have been completed.
This information session will provide a brief presentation of past, current and future studies completed around the project and will allow time for the public to ask questions pertaining to the new proposed airstrip.
