Inuit Women Receive Violence Awareness and Action Training

February is being recognized as Violence Awareness month across Newfoundland and Labrador.

A Violence Awareness and Action Training workshop was offered to a group of Inuit women this week as part of Violence Awareness month.

Carmen Hancock is the Executive Director of Violence Prevention Labrador.

She says the one-day workshop was held in Nain on Wednesday.

The workshop is tailored to residents, service providers and individuals who work with the community.

She says this training workshop has been hosted in all Nunatsiavut communities.

People were presented a certificate upon completing the workshop.

The training was offered as part of the province’s Violence Prevention Initiative.
