Internet and Long Distance Calling Restored in Natuashish

On February 7th, 2017, the permanent tower for Bell Aliant collapsed in Natuashish, NL, leaving them without long-distance calling and internet usage.

OK Radio spoke with the Chief of Band Council, John Nui.

Nui says most people were left without internet usage and long distance calls, but some people had Xplornet internet, and were using satellite phones to call out of town.

He says the internet and long distance were restored yesterday afternoon.

There is one temporary tower installed in Natuashish for now, and the permanent tower should be installed in the spring.
