Hopedale Water Emergency Update: Day 5

It’s day 5 of the water crisis in Hopedale.

Low water pressure is the cause of the State of Emergency in the community.

Jim Tuttauk is the AngajukKak of the Inuit Community Government.

He says since last evening there’s been a slight improvement with the water pressure in town.

Tuttauk says the water pressure had been 25 pounds per square inch (or PSI), and is now up to 31 PSI since last evening.

There are still a lot of homes without running water, but the residents can pick up bottled water from the town office.

Tuttauk says the town donated 6 cases of bottled water to the school, and is fetching water to help the school flush toilets.

He added the town received 3 more water pumps, and is putting 1 up on Top Pond.

They now have 5 pumps working in total.

OK Radio will have another update on the Hopedale water emergency on Monday.
