Hopedale in a State of Emergency (Audio Added)

Hopedale has declared a State of Emergency in their town.

Jim Tuttauk is the AngajukKak of the Inuit Community Government Office.

He says this is due to very low water pressure in the community.

Labrador’s north coast has been experiencing very cold temperatures since December.

There have also been re-occurring water pipe freeze-ups on the north coast throughout the winter months.

Tuttauk says the town has been dealing with a lot of water pipe freeze-ups this winter.

And yesterday they started getting very low water pressure all over town, so he declared a State of Emergency in their town.
