Federal Budget Cuts Affect ITK (Audio)

Inuit Tapariit Kanatami was one of the many organizations that were hit hard by the federal government’s budget cuts.

Mary Simon is the President of ITK.

She says their health budget was cut by 40 percent when the federal government announced their budget.

Simon says the cuts will have a huge impact on the work they’ve been doing in Inuit regions across Canada.

That work includes addressing mental health issues such as suicide.

Simon will also discuss whether or not she’s running for another term as President in this June’s election.
