The Easter games in Makkovik will be taking place this Saturday April 4 and Monday April 6.
We spoke with John Andersen, the Recreation Director.
He says there is a contest going on now for the community members for the best Easter snow sculpture.
Judging will be announced on Sunday and the first place winner will receive $100.
Andersen says the Easter games start at 8 am on the harbor.
Two events will take place on the ice at 10 am, including children’s games for ages 2-5 years, and 6-9 years.
And at 10 am, the annual Irene Mitchell shooting match begins.
Then at 1:15, activities like the 3 legged soccer will be held on the harbour as well as the following events:
The Boil and Kettle race;
The One Mile Running Race;
The Axe Target show;
The 3-Legged Camel race;
Downhill running;
and the Kid’s Dog Team race, with one dog.
At 6-7 pm, the bouncy castle will be available for children at the school gym.
And a poker run will take place at 8 pm.
