Condition of Nain’s Fresh Water Improves Dramatically

The condition of the fresh water supply in Nain has seen a dramatic improvement since a state of emergency was called last week.

AngajukKak of the Nain Inuit Community Government, Tony Andersen, says the improvement is due to the hard work of the town’s crews.

The crews have been busy diverting the streams of water which were flowing into the town’s water supply.

Andersen says they will be flushing the lines Tuesday or Wednesday.

The local government is still waiting on some custom parts which may be used to take fresh water from another source.

That route may not be taken if the condition of the water continues to improve.

Andersen says they will have the equipment on hand if it’s needed in the future.

Those parts are expected to arrive sometime this week.

AngajukKak Andersen says the Inuit Community Government is continuing to distribute water to households in the community.
