As Labrador Inuit prepare to head to the polls to select a new leader, another election is taking place to select a leader of all Inuit in Canada.
A new president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami will be elected on June 6.
Terry Audla and Robbie Watts are the two candidates in ITK’s Presidential Election.
Terry Audla is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Nunavut Tungavik Incorporated.
He says high school dropout rates and suicide are among the issues that he feels need to be addressed.
Increasing the lines of communication between Canada’s four Inuit regions is also a priority for the candidate.
