Puppet Contest

The Dept. of Culture, Recreation and Tourism has purchased new puppets to be used in the Language Nests and Day Care Centres to speak ONLY in Inuttitut to the children to promote Inuttitut in these spaces.

Shirley Jararuse is the Language Program Coordinator at the Nunatsiavut Government.

She says the puppets will be known as “Atâtsiak and Anânsiak/ Ânak”, or Grandfather and Grandmother, and they look like Inuit grandparents.

The contest details must be to choose a local traditional Inuit name such as Selma, Paulus, etc. for your community’s Atâtatsiak and Anânatsiak/Ânak.

The names chosen will be used as the grandparents’ names and you will win some great Inuttitut promotional items.

The deadline for this contest is June 14, 2019 at 4pm
