Nunatsiavut Polar Bear Licenses

Nunatsiavut Government recently received 12 polar bear licenses for 2019 from the Provincial Government.

Todd Broomfield is the Director of Renewable Resources for NG. ( Aulatsiji asitattausunik Pivianattunik.)

He says the first draw for Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries allowable harvest was last Friday, February 1 st.

Brroomfield says the beneficiaries will have their licenses for 7 days from the time they were issued the license.

And if they don’t fill that licence within the 7 days it will drawn to the next person.

He says the polar bear harvest will stay open till June 30th, that’s when the season usually close.

In addition to allocations of these licences for the north coast community harvests, there’s 3 each for Nain and Hopedale, and 2 each for Makkovik, Postvlle and Rigolet.
